Absolving Myself of Happiness
On the evening of Friday, January 26, 2024, I absolved myself of happiness. This may sound like a bad thing; but in fact, it’s a good thing. Absolving myself of happiness does not mean consigning myself to sadness; rather, it means elevating joy. Happiness, I have concluded, is too big of an ask—from God, the universe, or whatever entity we think is doling out the cash and prizes.
